Classroom Etiquette
- Turn off any cell phones or beepers.
- Do not read the newspaper or listen to a walkman or i-pod in class.
- Come on time. Do not leave early.1
- Do not disrupt the class with loud or excessive talking.
- Do not eat or drink in class. (People can hear your chewing and slurping.)
- Do not chew tobacco in class. Yuck!
These rules are to help insure that you and your classmates can learn and do
well in the course. I reserve the right to count you absent in the unlikely
event that behavior problems should arise. In severe cases you may be given
an F for the course and asked not to return.
E-mail Etiquette
You may e-mail me with general questions. However, I cannot answer homework problems by e-mail. When e-mailing please start your
subject line with "Math 108". (This is because I get lots of spam and I do not want to delete your message by mistake.) Write in correct English following
standard rules for punctuation and capitalization. (This is because I am old fashioned and because your future employer is likely to be old fashioned too.) -- Thank you.
1. If you must leave early, let me know in advance and sit near
the door so you do not disturb others as you leave.
