Course Policies for Math 150

Text: Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 2nd Ed., by James Stewart. ISBN 978-1-133-11228-0. No other texts are required or recommended. Some "handouts" are on the web page. Solutions manuals are prohibited.

Departmental Calculator Policy: You should have and be able to use a TI-30. If you want to check your calculator skills do the following optional worksheet on the course web page: Calculator Practice Sheet.

Quizzes: There will be a quiz or test most Fridays. If you fail one, you must come and see me within one week or your grade will be dropped to zero. On some quizzes and tests you will not be allowed to use any calculator while on others you will need a TI-30.

Tests: Tentative test dates are: September 21, October 19 & November 16.

Homework: Homework is due in class most Mondays. No late homework. You may work together on the homework but the work you turn in should be your own. All homework assignments are on the web page.

Final: Tuesday, December 11, 10:10 - 12:10, room TBA.

Grades: Two homework grades and two quiz grades will be dropped. Your course grade will then be computed as follows: Homework & Quizzes 15%, Tests 60%, Final 25%. (I do not drop the lowest test grade.)

Attendance: Class attendance is required. If you don't collect an assignment when it is returned in class the grade will be changed to zero. You may not pick up other people's assignments for them. To attempt to do so will be treated as equivalent to cheating. To get an absence excused see me in advance, or call or e-mail me ASAP.

Cheating: The minimum penalty for cheating is a grade of F in the course and you may face suspension. There will be multiple versions of the quizzes, tests and final. Solutions manuals are prohibited.
