- Study the word problems.

- Given data, be able to set up matrices for least squares.
For example, if I gave you the data table in Example 4 (page 457)
you should be able to give the matrices on page 458 (top).
Know the proof of Thm 8.7.

- Know proof of Thm 8.8. See homework.
- 9.2
- Given Ax=b, set up Jacobi or Gauss-Seidel methods.
Do one iteration. Know when these methods can and cannot be applied.

- Do LU-factorization. Use it to solve problems.
Understand ill-conditioned systems.

- Understand Thm 9.1. Be able to prove ``parts'' of it.
Understand how QR-factorization is applied to least square problems.
