Homework Guidelines

1. No late homework.

2. PRINT your name, the course number, and the assignment number in the upper right-hand corner of the first page. On computer print outs make sure your name in typed in the worksheet.

3. Record the assignment in the upper left-hand corner of the first page. Check off the ones you have done.

4. Indicate the problem number and the section number or handout for each problem. Do the problems in order. If you skip a problem leave a blank space.

5. Trim any rough edges. Use only 8.5'' x 11'' paper. Staple all pages together.

These practices will make grading much easier and faster. The grader will deduct points for failure to comply. Your cooperation is appreciated. Extremely sloppy work will not be graded.

In this course you will be writing proofs. You should have had some exposure to do this in your high school geometry course. But, most students do find this difficult. Just keep at it and don't let yourself get discouraged.

You may work together on homework. In fact this is a good idea, if it is done right. A study group with more than 3 or 4 members is often not effective. The work you turn in should be your own.

Simply copying someone else's homework is cheating -- same for copying from a solutions manual or an on-line source. Do not Xerox someone else's computer printout and turn it in as your own.

In the "real world" it is important to be able to work with and learn from others; but, nobody likes a mooch. While it is possible to fake your way through college you will only wind up unemployable.
