Course Policies for Math 250

Text: Calculus, by Stewart, 4th edition. (No other texts are required or recommended.) We cover most of chapters 7, 8, 10 & 11.

Quizzes and Tests: There will be a quiz or test most Fridays. If you fail one, you must come and see me within one week or your grade will be dropped to zero. On some quizzes and tests you will not be allowed to use any calculator while on others, you will need one. Tenative test dates are: September 26, October 24, and November 21.

Homework: Homework is due each Monday. No late homework. You may work together on the homework but the work you turn in should be your own. See the links to the Homework Assignments and Homework Guidelines on the webpage.

Final: There will be a two hour comprehensive final exam. See http://www.siu.edu/departments/oar/examfl03.htm, for the Exam Schedule.

Grades: Two homework grades and two quiz grades will be dropped. Your course grade will then be computed as follows: Homework & Quizzes 15%, Tests 60%, Final 25%. (I do not drop the lowest test grade.)

Attendance: Class attendance is required. If you don't collect an assignment when it is returned in class the grade will be changed to zero. You may not pick up other peoples' assignments for them. To attempt to do so will be treated as equivalent to cheating. To get an absence excused see me in advance, or call or e-mail me ASAP.

Cheating: The minimum penalty for cheating is a grade of F in the course. Your college dean may wish to take further action. There will be multiple versions of the quizzes, tests and final.
