Course Policies for Math 251

Textbook: Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 1st ed, by James Stewart. We cover Chapters 10-13. You are expected to already know the material in Chapters 1-9.

Homework: Homework is due each Monday unless there is a test. No late homework without a medical excuse. You may work together on the homework but the work you turn in should be your own. You are prohibited from using any solutions manuals. See the Homework Guidelines for more information.

Tests: There will be three midterm exams. Tentative dates are September 22, October 27, and December 5.

Final: There will be an optional two hour comprehensive final exam. The exam date is Friday December 12 p.m. It will be in our regular classroom.

Grades: Your course grade will be computed as follows: Homework 100 points based on the best ten. Each midterm is 100 points. The final is 200 points.

Attendance: Class attendance is required. If you do not pick up your graded homework, the grade will be converted to a zero.

Cheating: The minimum penalty for cheating is a grade of F in the course. The Dean of the College of Science may wish to take further action. There will be multiple versions of the tests and the final. You are prohibited from using any solutions manuals.
