Course Policies for Math 251

Textbook: Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 1st ed, by James Stewart. We cover Chapters 10-13. You are expected to already know the material in Chapters 1-9.

Homework: Homework is due each Monday. No late homework without a medical excuse. You may work together on the homework but the work you turn in should be your own. You are prohibited from using any solutions manuals. See the Homework Guidelines for more information.

Tests: There will be three midterm exams. Tentative dates are February 13, March 21, and April 30.

Final: There will be a two hour comprehensive final exam. The exam date is Thrusday, May 10, 12:50-2:50. It will be in our regular classroom.

Grades: Your course grade will be computed as follows. Homework will count 1/6th with the lowest two homework scores dropped. Each one hour test is 1/6th. The final is 2/6ths.

Attendance: Class attendance is required. I am tired of dealing with students who cut class and then complain that they are behind. If you cut class four times (without a written excuse) I will give you an F. Try finding a job where attendance is optional.

Cheating: The minimum penalty for cheating is a grade of F in the course. The Dean of the College of Science may wish to take further action. There will be multiple versions of the tests and the final. You are prohibited from using any solutions manuals.
