Math 305 - Fall 2012
Review Sheet for Test 1
- You will need a basic calculator but you cannot use a graphing calculator.
- Test 1 covers sections 1.1 (direction fields) and 2.1-2.6, plus the review problems at the end of Chapter 2.
- You should be able to find general and particural solutions the following types differential equations: Linear, Separable, Homogeneous (covert to separable by a substitution), Bernoulli (convert to Linear by a substitution), Exact (and be able to covert to Exact with integrating factor in some cases).
- Understand where, what domain, a solution is valid.
- There will be word problems.
- Be able to handle differential equations with discontinuous coefficient functions.
- Be able to sketch solution curves and determine stablity types of equilibrium solutions for autonomous differential equations: y' = F(y).
- Be to match direction fields with their differential equations.
- Here is a link to some old tests: Old Tests.
