The Greek Alphabet
Sometimes when a student says "math is Greek to me" he or she
means it quite literally. Greek letters are often used in mathematics. This
will be especially the case next semester if you take Math 109,
Trigonometry. The tables below may help you to become more familiar
with these symbols. By the way, do you know the etymology of the word
alphabet?
Lower case sigma has a second form, ,
